Decision-making and patient education about hernia repair surgery

Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery

Shared decision making can improve patient-centered and preference-concordant care among individuals considering ventral incisional hernia repair to ensure that treatment meets their goals, rather than solely treating the underlying disease process. The team is developing a surgery decision guide that incorporates education about what to expect and information about how to talk about what matters most to patients through their care journey.

This project is led by Dr. Sara Holden, Dr. Jeff Blatnik and Dr. Brad Kushner.
