Financial Burden among Black Men Making Prostate Cancer Treatment Choices: A Mixed Methods Study

This P50 CA244431 pilot project led by PI, Dr. Ashley Housten, and supported by co-Is, Dr. Mary Politi, Dr. Bettina Drake, Dr. Su-Hsin Chang, Dr. Eric Kim and community and patient stakeholder advisors, will conduct a mixed-methods study to investigate direct and indirect costs of prostate cancer treatment choices. We will analyze MarketScan (commercial claims) data as well as conduct qualitative interviews with men who have been through prostate cancer treatment to understand how patients experience the costs of prostate cancer care and what affect it has on their lives.
